Happy New Year! First finished object

I finally finished my dad's sweater, and a pair of mitts for my mom for Christmas. I still have a lot of planned gifts to knit, but they are big yarn on large needles, so it should go quickly. I have also started my own video podcast about knitting, spinning, crochet and other fun shit that I love. You can catch it at Twisted Strands. I guess I could apologize for not posting more often, but fuck it! There's so much to see and do about crafting on the web, I bet you yarnhoars didn't even notice. But I told you I finished a few things, so here are pictures.
This fucking sweater took me over a year to knit. Dad had a yarngasm at Down Cellar a few years ago during their super bowl sale. I can't blame him, but I was taken aback by the bright green color he chose. You'd think he'd be simply happy with getting the sweater after years of patient waiting, but alas. Now he wants a fucking pair of socks. Great:P


Tonight I finished Mom's convertible mitts in a bright color of red. She loves that color. Here's a picture of mom, wearing her new mitts. Now these? Took me only a week and a half to finish. I'm glad she doesn't want a matching coat or anything.

I have a few other things to ponder while the words appear on the screen, but I still have at least 3 other gifts to knit.

Finished Object Friday!

Yes, more finished things! First, a beautiful steampunk pirate necklace that is on its way to a new owner. I made it for a pirate swap that I'm in on Ravelry.

This is my first attempt at a needle roll. Pretty damn primitive, as I didn't use a pattern. Same swap, different item!

This amusing fellow is from a knitting pattern I received during a different swap. But he's so fitting in the package, that I knit him up. The story for him is, Ole' Pegleg lost his eye protecting the above necklace from a giant clam. I think he hit himself in the eye with his felt sword. What do you think?

And this lovely bag has been used a lot of late. I like to take it shopping with me. I knit it in cotton ease by lion brand. The pattern is from a family circle zine. Obviously a beach bag!

Anyway, hope you liked looking, more stuff will be coming here soon. I'm off to go buy more yarn.
